The Community Service Committee will decide on a project to be worked on at the July guild meeting. In past years, this has been a “Pillowcase Blowout”, with pillowcases donated to the women and their children at the Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter. This might change in the future, which, in turn, will require some changes in the organization of the event. The committee will solicit donations of fabric throughout the year, and be responsible for evaluating and sorting all donated fabric.
The committee will identify the main aspects of the workshop and have available a signup sheet for guild members to volunteer for particular tasks at the June meeting. Assignments may include sorting and matching of fabrics, cutting, pressing, sewing, binding, and attaching guild labels to pillowcases.
The Committee will send out via the Town Crier a list of supplies needed for guild members performing each task at least one week before the July guild meeting.
On the day of the workshop, committee members will supervise the setup of the room, explain, oversee, and direct each phase of the project.
Committee members will deliver completed pillowcases to the Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter.
